Final Blog

This year in science has been so much fun! We did so many things like the human body, Insects and bridges. It was really fun to do the bridges even though our bridge was really bad XD. It was also funny cause Alexis and Anna’s Bridge had  TON of toothpicks and a ton of glue to. It was funny though ;P. Also we dissected pig lungs and heart. I welt pretty bad for the pig, but it was cool to see how they work. I got to inflate the lungs and it looked like a balloon blowing up. Then I poked the lungs with a tack and I could feel the air coming out. I didn’t really like cutting into it. The lungs are all made up of tissue and It is not hollow. ANYWAYS! This year in science was really fun. I think we did a lot of fun and crazy things like lighting things on fire with magnifying glasses.

Science 5/5/19

School is coming to an end… We only have 12 DAYS of science left! Wow. I mean that’s barely any… This week we had tapestry. Which I think turned out WAY better than I expected. It also was shorter than the rest of tapestries. I wasn’t really that nervous because I knew it would be fun and It’s something you shouldn’t be nervous about..? I don’t know why I wasn’t really nervous at all… But It was really fun and worth it. We also worked more on our bridges and were not really that far because we were trying to build a draw bridge before. Our bridge company is The Timber Tree-Os. Yes spelled Tree. ;3

Science 04/21/19

In science we are working on building a bridge out of toothpicks. We didn’t get that far, but its a start! The challenge is making the cheapest bridge but the cheapest. So far we have our bridge planed out. And we have built a tiny bit. We also have unlimited money. We also did a thing with a tennis ball and a cart thing..? Anyways it was on gravity and the tennis ball was the still object and the cart was the moving object. We did a few tests and drew the results and explained it also.

Pear lab 3/24/19

This week we worked on our badvertisements which is like an advertisement but you make it on something that’s bad for you. We did smoking. The fun part about it was making it sarcastic. We had to make it sarcastic. What I did was write a long list of all the bad things that smoking does and then I put warning this may cause throat cancer teeth to fall out and death. We also worked on a heart lab. We got in groups of two and worked cut open a pear and shaved out the sections of the heart on the pear. We filled in the sections with jello filling and dumped it out so one side was blue and the other was red. Then we ate the jello filling which was really good. After we finished I got to eat half on the pear with the jello in it. It was actually really good. I think the funnest part of this week was the pear lab.

Science 3/3/19

In science this week we didn’t do much some people presented there drugs that we were working on. I was done with mine but there wasn’t enough time for me to present on that day. We also worked on our ukuleles for art class. I finished mine, but I can’t put on the strings or anything cause people are still working on their ukuleles. I think painting my ukulele was pretty fun. I can’t wait to finish it. While I was waiting for everyone to finish there ukuleles I wood burned the bird houses. Here is my drug that I worked on in science. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Zw8EfjYEMSrD7lSxRxOrA_W8kOlVr2tWOCw7Jecky58/edit#slide=id.p

Science expo

This week in science we did a lot of things. The first thing we did was work on our science expo projects. I’m working on a misconception. Misconceptions are things that people think something is true about something but it isn’t true. For expel Humans evolved from monkeys. You may think that that is true but it isn’t. My misconception is bats are blind. Do you think bats are blind. It’s okay if you do many people do. That’s why it is a common misconception. Bats can actually see perfectly fine. The only problem is they don’t have night vision and bats mostly hunt at night. Then we did a thing were you have a partner poke your back with needles and you have to guess if it was one or two needles. I hated doing that. I don’t like being poked with needles.

How do bats travel in the night?

Why is it harder for other people to tell if there is two or one needle?

What did humans evolve from if not monkeys?

Science 02/10/19

This week we didn’t have much science because of the two snow days.  But we decided to start a new unit on the brain. Right now we are learning about drugs and how they affect the brain. Its kinda funny because of the two snow days we only had 1 day of science. So we really didn’t get much done. But I’m kind exited on how drugs affect the brain. I haven’t picked out my drug that I’m doing yet but I’m going to. Happy snow days!

Multi-age 1/24/19

The past couple weeks we have been doing a thing called multi-age. Its were all the grades get mixed and people 5-8 are separated into a virtual 5th grade 6th and 7th. Virtual grades are were you get put into a grade and you follow that schedule but your with a different class with different people. We are learning about Recycling and Waste. In art and LASS we are making puppets out of Recycling and other usable trash. We are writing a script about Plastic and Waste and how its bad for the environment. In math were doing Trash-ion and re-fashion. We made cloths out of recycling and trash. In Music were making music out of metal and buckets and other trash for the fashion show. In french were doing a Zero wast DIY. And finally in science we are working on a google slide about plastic in the Great Lakes. Did you know that there is about 11 million pounds of plastic in Lake Michigan? There is 22 million pounds of plastic around the Great Lakes shorelines.

Science 12/16/18

This week in science we worked on the urinary system. First we got into groups of two and one group of three. We drew the urinary system and I think ours looked pretty good. Then we started to glue candy around the outlines of our drawing. We also worked on a storyboardthat and I think I’m almost done with mine. This week was pretty crazy because one day we worked on the drawing then the storyboard, then the drawing. And… that’s pretty much all that happened this week..

Science 12/02/18

This week we got to burn food! It was so fun! My favorite part was lighting the food on fire. I think it was really cool watching it burn. Did you know that you could boil water just by burning Cheetos. We were burning them to find how many calories were in the food. We burned Cheetos, an almond, and a Tostito. We put water in a can and took the temp and wrote it down. Then we lit the food on fire and when the fire went out we looked at the temp and write it down. We also weighed it before and after. Then we did some math to figure out how many calories there were. We actually got pretty close to how many calories were in the foods.
